The Bridle Bash is a summer concert fundraiser held at a private ravine residence in Toronto. The upcoming Bridle Bash III (summer 2008) is the most recent event being planned by a core group of people who have been involved in volunteering and organizing fundraising events together for over ten years. These events have raised more than two million dollars for charity. The proceeds from these events have been directed towards various registered charities including the Canadian Cancer Society, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Giant Steps and Camp Oochigeas.
Currently, the steering committee is in the process of registering their own charitable foundation and plan to have the proceeds from this year’s Bridle Bash concert support this foundation. The goal behind "The Foundation" is to support both adult and children's causes, through other registered charitable organizations.
An emphasis is placed on benevolence, in order that others less fortunate will be the benefactors of greater donated amounts. The eligible donees are registered charities whose goals include enhancing the quality of life for individuals and their families living with illness, as well as those registered charities whose goals include research into prevention, treatment and cure of illness and disease.
What makes this charity event different from most others is that all involved donate their time and expertise. From the bartenders to the security, from the food that is donated by Longos to the labour, bookeeping, printing, web design, photography, electrical etc. all time and services are donated. This allows us to have such a large fundraising revenue from a one night event. Usually the only cost is the performer.
The last concert was held on July 29, 2006 and it was truly a magical evening! Those who were there will remember that the air was hot and sultry and the crowd was rocking to the sounds of Burton Cummings. At one point, looking up from his keyboard at the crowds in the pool, and the hundreds more overlooking the upper level, Burton Cummings grinned his famous smile and stated that he felt incredible karma taking place.
That night was filled with great karma. However, even more vital to the success of the evening was the $300,000 raised for Camp Oochigeas - a camp for children with cancer and for children affected by childhood cancer. The donation to the camp set a record, and in 2006, The Bridle Bash became the largest private fundraiser for Camp Oochigeas.
This year we aim to surpass the previous amount raised for charity. We are in the process of determining ticket prices and Corporate Packages. As we are limited in terms of capacity, the only ways to increase revenue is through both ticket sales and the silent auction. We want to ensure two things from this night. One, we want to make it an incredible night of fun for all those that attend. Two, we want to make sure a substantial amount is raised for charity; an amount that can truly make a difference in the lives of those that are the recipients. All corporate sponsors will receive a full tax receipt and those that purchase individual tickets will receive a tax receipt for a percentage of the cost of the ticket (amount to be determined by the government).
We promise that this year's event will be the best of the best. We are in the process of securing an amazing act and look forward to an incredible night.
